Trust Our Fulton County, PA Emergency Care Center

The Fulton County Medical Center is a Level IV Trauma Center. Trauma centers provide specialized medical services and resources to patients suffering from severe and life-threatening injuries. Our Fulton County emergency care center is staffed with caring and highly experienced and qualified emergency service providers. This is critical because studies have shown that capable, prompt, and appropriate emergency care service reduces the likelihood of death or permanent disability in patients suffering from serious and life-threatening injuries. The emergency care practitioners at our accredited trauma center continuously prepare and educate themselves to treat their patients better and prevent any long-term damage or death. Our Level IV emergency care center also provides initial care to our patients and stabilizes them so they can be transferred to a higher level of trauma care.

We Treat Both Emergencies and Non-Emergencies

We staff our emergency care practice with four full-time physicians and emergency nurses, plus several part-time medical professionals, all of whom treat both major and minor illnesses or injuries 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We care for patients of all ages, including newborns and geriatric patients. We also have a 24-hour laboratory, radiology, and CT scan capabilities. Learn more about our practice below:

When To Visit Our Emergency Care Center

Knowing when to visit an emergency care center is a tricky decision for many individuals. After all, many symptoms can indicate nothing at all or be symptomatic of a serious ailment. When it comes to your health, it's best to be careful. While it's important to note that many of these symptoms have benign explanations, they could be an indication of something more serious. If they persist or the pain gets worse, visit our emergency care doctor for treatment. Some things to keep an eye on include:

  • Wheezing, shortness of breath, and/or breathing difficulties
  • Chest pain
  • Fractures
  • Sudden numbness or significant weakness
  • Bleeding that won't stop
  • Intense, localized abdominal pain
  • A fever that includes convulsions in children under three months
  • Coughing or vomiting blood
  • A sudden inability to speak, see, walk, or move in any way

What to Expect

Arrival
  • Upon arrival to the emergency department, you will first see a Nurse who will get you information and vital signs.
  • Depending on the seriousness of your injury or illness, you may be taken directly to a treatment room or to a waiting room to wait until a treatment is available.

Treatment Room
Our providers and nurses will examine you and create a plan of care based on your individual treatment needs.

  • Laboratory tests and/or diagnostic procedures are such as blood work, x-rays, CT scans and ultrasounds may be performed to help further diagnose your condition.
  • Your emergency care providers must wait for all test to be complete and resulted before determining your diagnosis
  • As soon as diagnostic results are available the medical team will explain these result and occasionally additional testing may be required.
  • Please ask your health care provider any questions in regard to your test results.
  • Your treatment may take a few minutes to several hours depending on your illness or injury and the presence of other critical patients.

At Discharge
  • The nurse will provide you with a copy of your discharge instructions and any prescriptions for you, as well as explain the medications to you.
  • The nurse will answer any questions about your care or treatment.
  • Please schedule appointments and notify your primary care provider of your visit to receive appropriate care.
  • If you do not have a primary care provider, please let us know, and we would be happy to refer you to one of our care providers.
